The Script Project is collecting and adapting stories from the New American adult population in Erie. The stories will be turned into children’s picture books with audio in English and other languages relevant to the story. The books will be donated to local schools and the sale of books will benefit the non-profit work of The Script Project, the storyteller/author, and the artist.
The Script Project provides scholarships for marginalized communities to pursue culturally enriching experiences and careers in education. These scholarships can be used for trips, camps, and experiences as well as covering costs for those pursuing teaching certification. This year we also held our first Scholarship Expo that focused on helping Students of Color access more financial support for their education.
The Script Project supports groups within the community to provide more culturally responsive and sustaining environments. In a new initiative, we are working to provide Youth Wellness Care Packages. These baskets will provide culturally appropriate mental health and hygiene products to youth in placement facilities in Erie County.
The Script Project offers consulting and training to develop culturally responsive environments in education, workplaces, and community spaces. We lead large and small group training as well as advise curriculum development and conduct research. We can offer support for those new to anti-racist equity work and those already in the process of understanding what equity really means in a structurally inequitable society.
